Ruth Ann Bandy

Before suffering a stroke, Ruth Ann Bandy lived an active and busy life. Known as a wonderful cook who always kept an immaculate home, she hosted most family events.  Ruth Ann was active in her church, St. Mary’s of the Knobs, and enjoyed landscaping. Multiple times each week, she played tennis and went walking.

The stroke affected Ruth Ann’s mobility in her right arm and leg, as well as her speech. After consulting with those she trusted, Ruth Ann chose Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital (SIRH) for her recovery.

With a strong will to recover and return to her normal activities as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Ruth Ann made great progress at SIRH. She credits the “caring and skilled” therapists at SIRH, her husband, Bruce, her daughters, and in-home caregivers for influencing her recovery. She thanks her therapists and family for their encouragement, and found motivation in her faith in God.

Ruth Ann looks forward to living an independent life and being better able to communicate her thoughts and feelings through speech. She is excited to go to lunch with friends and family and resume church activities.
